What is a limecrete floor? A limecrete floor is an insulated, breathable floor suitable for old properties and new builds alike. It consists of:
- Recycled foam glass – a material made from recycling glass. It is a load bearing, lightweight, non-capillary, self draining, insulative product
- Either limecrete screed or limecrete slab followed by the limecrete screed. A mix of NHL5 lime, aggregate and water.
Between the layers is a geotextile, breathable membrane.
If incorporating underfloor heating, a grid is laid with pipes fixed to this before the final screed.
Once cured, from 28 days onwards, the floor is then ready to complete with a material such as stone, tile, timber or carpet of natural fibres.

Hi, I see the limecrete needs 28 days to cure before the floor finish can be applied, but after how long can it be walked on in order to carry out other tasks prior to laying the finish?
Thank you
We usually advise that 72 hours are left after the install, after this, protect the floor with boards such as OSB or ply to ensure no point loading takes place and lift when not in use. This allows other works to continue.
