What Is A Limecrete Floor?

What does a Limecrete floor look like?

What is a limecrete floor?  A limecrete floor is an insulated, breathable floor suitable for old properties and new builds alike.  It consists of:

  1. Recycled foam glass – a material made from recycling glass.  It is a load bearing, lightweight, non-capillary, self draining, insulative product
  2. Either limecrete screed or limecrete slab followed by the limecrete screed.  A mix of NHL5 lime, aggregate and water.

Between the layers is a geotextile, breathable membrane.

If incorporating underfloor heating, a grid is laid with pipes fixed to this before the final screed.

Once cured, from 28 days onwards, the floor is then ready to complete with a material such as stone, tile, timber or carpet of natural fibres.

Stunning Barns in Buckinghamshire

Honoured to be laying limecrete floors in stunning barns in Buckinghamshire for Edgar Taylor Construction Limited. Just over 300m2 of limecrete laid in two barns over 2 days. These stunning barns are owned by The National Trust and are set in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Chiltern Hills. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this amazing restoration project!

What a pleasure to work with the brilliant Hipperson on this amazing project at The Old Royal Naval College, London.

This project was in a lower ground floor within the same building as the incredible Painted Hall.

Our team even got to have a peek at the stunning artwork! We are so lucky to have worked there and with the fabulous Hipperson team. http://www.hipperson.com
